ChatGPT Charged in Philippine Pesos (PHP)? Why Plus Is ₱982.14 a Month ($15.83–$16.48 on Our Cards), Why a Pro Renewal Came In 17% Higher Than the First Month, Whether You Can Switch Back to US Dollars, and Why a USD Card Still Gets Declined (56 Peso Charges on 12 of Our Cards) — 2026

OpenAI bills some ChatGPT web subscriptions in Philippine pesos. The card still shows OPENAI *CHATGPT SUBSCR SAN FRANCISCO, but each charge is converted from pesos to US dollars at the day’s rate, so the amount is different every month. On our own prepaid cards: 56 peso charges from OpenAI on 12 cards, 25 successful ($1,318.85) and 31 declined, 30 of them because the balance did not cover the charge. ChatGPT Plus at ₱982.14 came to $15.83–$16.48; one Pro renewal was ₱5,794.64, 17% more than the first month, and was declined 7 times in 12 days. How the conversion works, what OpenAI says about changing currency, and how much to keep on the card. Updated October 2026.

Short answer: OpenAI decides the billing currency of a ChatGPT web subscription by the account’s country or region, and the Philippines (PHP, ₱) is on OpenAI’s list of countries billed in local currency. The card still shows OPENAI *CHATGPT SUBSCR SAN FRANCISCO, but every charge is converted from pesos to US dollars at that day’s rate, so the same ₱982.14 for ChatGPT Plus came to anywhere from $15.83 to $16.48 on our cards. The trouble with peso billing is that the dollar amount is never round and changes every month: top up to an exact dollar figure and the converted amount can be just over it. Of 31 declined peso charges on our cards, 30 were the balance not covering the charge.

Written by the Pink Card team (pinkcard.cc). The currency list is from the OpenAI Help Center article “Multi-currency billing” (checked on 2026-10-24; the Philippines, PHP, is listed), and the US prices from chatgpt.com/pricing (same day: Go $8, Plus $20, Pro from $100 in three usage tiers). The pricing page shows prices by the visitor’s region, so we could not confirm the official peso price there; every peso amount below is an actual charge on our cards, and your own checkout page and invoice are what count. Card data covers every OpenAI charge in PHP on our own cards up to 2026-10-27 (UTC). Pink Card fees are those shown on the purchase page on 2026-10-28. Pink Card is not affiliated with OpenAI.

How a peso charge works on a US dollar card

  1. OpenAI sends the charge in pesos, for example ₱982.14 for ChatGPT Plus, the most common amount on our cards.
  2. The card network converts it to US dollars at that day’s rate.
  3. The converted dollar amount is taken from the card, plus Pink Card’s $1 per-transaction fee. Pink Card adds no currency conversion fee.
  4. The rate moves every day, so the same peso amount costs a different number of dollars every month.
Can you switch back to US dollars? OpenAI’s Multi-currency billing article says an active subscription keeps being billed in its current currency; to change currency you have to cancel and subscribe again after the current period ends. If you are already billed in pesos, there is usually no need to cancel just for the currency; keep a little more on the card instead. Subscriptions bought in the iPhone or Android app are billed by Apple or Google Play in the store’s currency and are managed separately.

Real peso charges on our cards

We checked every OpenAI charge in Philippine pesos on our own cards, from the first on 2026-05-31 to 2026-10-27: 56 charges on 12 cards, 25 successful ($1,318.85 in total) and 31 declined on 6 cards.

  • ChatGPT Plus at ₱982.14 a month: 7 successful charges on 4 cards, $15.83 to $16.48. One card paid $16.48 on 08-05, $16.08 on 09-23 and $15.83 on 10-23: the peso amount never changed, the dollar amount kept going down.
  • One account was charged ₱1,074.76 a month ($17.80, then $17.58), about 9% more. We cannot see why; it may be the plan or tax on that account.
  • Pro-size charges (Pro is from $100 a month in the US, in three tiers: Pro 100, 200 and 500): ₱4,849.87, ₱4,951.70, ₱4,982.03, ₱5,119.91, ₱7,703.69, ₱9,429.03 and ₱9,990.00, which came to $78.87 to $162.70. We only see the amounts, so we cannot tell which tier or which upgrade each one was.
  • ChatGPT credits (merchant name OPENAI* CHATGPT CREDIT) are billed in pesos too: ₱565 ($9.23–$9.40), ₱601.16, ₱1,130, ₱1,186.50, ₱1,236.56, and ₱5,085 (about $83 each) four times on one card.

Why the renewal was more than the first month

One $100 card paid ₱4,951.70 ($80.85) on 09-14, the day it was issued. The renewal on 10-14 was ₱5,794.64 (about $94), 17% more than the first month. The card had only a little over ten dollars left, and OpenAI retried every one to three days: 7 declines between 10-14 and 10-26, the last one still with no top-up. We cannot see why the first month was lower (proration, a discount or a price change are all possible). So do not plan the balance on the first month’s amount: check the next charge under Settings → Billing in ChatGPT and keep a bit more than that.

Why the charges were declined: almost always the balance

  • 31 declines: 13 “maximum single transaction value”, 9 “monthly transaction amount limit”, 8 “cumulative amount limit”. All of them mean the card did not have enough for that charge at that moment. Only 1 was “Blocked”, a credits purchase on a card that had already been closed.
  • Paying before the top-up arrived: one $50 card was topped up with $50 and used 2 minutes after paying for the top-up. ₱4,844 ($78.78) was declined 7 times in 10 minutes. After the top-up reached the card, ₱4,849.87 went through on the first try.
  • On 09-30 another card tried to renew ₱9,427 (about $154) right after paying for two top-ups. 4 declines in 6 minutes; 5 minutes after the money arrived, it went through once.
  • The same card on 08-31: ₱4,981 was declined 5 times, then went through 14 minutes after a $30 top-up reached the card.
  • Every decline also costs $1 (at most 3 per card per month), so retrying in a loop only adds fees. Top up, wait until the new balance shows, then pay once.

How much to keep on the card

  • Plus at ₱982.14: take the highest we have seen, $16.48, add 10% for the exchange rate ($18.13), plus the $1 transaction fee and the $2.50 monthly fee: about $21.63 a month. A $110 card covers 5 months ($108.15).
  • Pro at ₱5,794.64 (about $94.34): add 10% ($103.77) plus $3.50 in fees: about $107.27 a month. A $110 card covers only one month; a $220 card ($236.90 in total) covers two ($214.54).
  • If the same card also pays for credits, Claude or Grok, add those charges too.

Already have a Pink Card: top up the same card

Topping up keeps the same card number, expiry and CVV, so the card saved in ChatGPT does not have to be entered again. A $30 top-up costs $5 + ($30 + $5) × 5% = $6.75 in fees ($36.75 in total); a $100 top-up for a Pro renewal costs $10.25 ($110.25 in total). Top-ups usually reach the card within 5–10 minutes of payment; pay or wait for OpenAI’s retry after the new balance shows.

Need a card for ChatGPT (USDT or USDC)

  1. Open pinkcard.cc/en and choose an amount: presets start at $110 ($110, $220, $500, $1000), or enter a custom amount from $100.
  2. Pay with USDT on BEP-20 or ERC-20, or with USDC on ERC-20. Send exactly the amount shown, on exactly the network you picked.
  3. The card number, expiry, CVV and billing address arrive by email about 1–2 minutes after the payment confirms (check spam).
  4. Add the card in ChatGPT with the billing address from the email exactly as written, and submit once.

Whether a charge goes through is decided by the merchant and the card issuer; we cannot promise every charge will. Every charge and decline, with its reason and the original currency amount, is listed in the card’s transaction history.

Pink Card fees (as of 2026-10-28)

  • Card issuance: $10 one-time, plus a 3% service fee on (card amount + $10). A $110 card costs $123.60, a $220 card $236.90.
  • From the card balance after activation: $1 per transaction and $2.50 per month. No currency conversion fee on peso or other foreign currency charges.
  • Failed authorizations are charged $1 too (at most 3 failed charges per card per month). Reversed charges do not reduce the balance.
  • Top-up of the same card: $5 plus 5% of (top-up amount + $5), minimum top-up $30, usually on the card within 5–10 minutes. Full fee table: pinkcard.cc/en/fees.
  • Once the card details are emailed, the order cannot be cancelled, so double-check your email address before paying.

FAQ

Why is ChatGPT charging me in Philippine pesos?

OpenAI sets the currency of a web subscription by the account’s country or region, and the Philippines is on its list of local-currency countries. A US dollar card still works: the pesos are converted to dollars at the day’s rate.

How much is ChatGPT Plus in pesos?

The most common amount on our cards is ₱982.14 a month, which came to $15.83–$16.48; one account paid ₱1,074.76. The pricing page shows prices by region, so check your own checkout page and invoice.

Can I switch ChatGPT back to US dollars?

OpenAI says an active subscription keeps its current currency; to change it, cancel and subscribe again after the current period ends. Usually it is simpler to keep a little more on the card.

Why was my card declined when the balance looked enough?

The converted dollar amount changes daily and is never round, and the renewal can be higher than the first month (17% higher on one of our cards). Keep about 10% more than the last charge plus $1.

Does Pink Card charge a currency conversion fee?

No. The charge is converted at the card network’s rate; the only fees are $1 per transaction and $2.50 per month.

Will OpenAI retry after a decline?

On our cards OpenAI retried a declined Pro renewal every one to three days, 7 times in 12 days. Top up, wait until it reaches the card, then wait for the retry or pay from the billing page.
